Leelanau Twp. approves proposal for Woolsey airport, state land swap
Leelanau Township board trustees unanimously approved moving forward to pursue a land swap proposal for a stateowned portion of property at Woolsey Airport at its regular meeting on June 11. Township Facilities Manager Ian Dawkins approached the board about the proposal, explaining how the township would gain approximately 15.317 acres of land at Woolsey Airport in exchange for swapping 14.474 acres of townshipowned land at the north end of Densmore Road near Mud Lake with the State of Michigan. 06/26/2024 04:30 PM

Some things are worth an extra wait. Following a delay due to Mother Nature’s cooler temperatures this spring, strawberries from Bardenhagen Berries in Leland Township will soon be available for purchase around Leelanau County. Bardenhagen Berries Owner Steve Bardenhagen said harvesting of the strawberries will begin today, adding they’ll also be sold today to county farm stands and local grocery stores including Leland Mercantile Co., Hansen Foods in Suttons Bay and NJ’s Grocery in Lake Leelanau. *** Plans for another solar array about twice the size as one already in place on M-72 at Bugai Road in Elmwood Township will be the subject of a public hearing at a July 15 meeting of the township planning commission. At last week’s Elmwood Township Planning Commission meeting, planners heard from representatives of Heritage Sustainable Energy who hope to construct a second phase of their “M72 Solar Farm” in the township near Harry’s Road off state highway M-72. 06/26/2024 04:30 PM

The opening reception at the Omena Historical Society (OHS) on Monday evening was a great event. It highlighted the move of the Putnam-Cloud Tower Building from the Villa Marquette to downtown Omena 20 years ago. There are lots of fun pictures of that event at the Museum for visitors to see this summer.
