‘Sari Sisterhood’ alliance formed during trip
I know a lot of people. But have very few “girlfriends.” You know, the kind you’d call if you really need help or offer assistance if needed. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM
Dictator?
Dictator?
To the editor: Webster says a dictator is a ruler having absolute authority, power, and supreme jurisdiction over the government of a state; especially, one who is considered tyrannical or oppressive. The worst and most famous dictators in history are: Hitler, Mussolini, Ferdinand, Marco, Joseph Stalin, Francisco Franco, Lenin, Mao, Kim and Vladimir Putin. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

To the editor: It appears some have lost the value of truth and why we are land of laws. Laws are for the purpose of protecting us from ourselves within a society. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

Dems have no shame
To the editor: President Biden’s dishonesty when it comes to America’s border enforcement was further exposed when Border Patrol recently admitted it has flown 320,000 illegal aliens from foreign airports into our country. About 2.3 million illegals have been released into the U.S. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

Friend needs help
To the editor: A letter to the editor is, unequivocally, not an appropriate forum for fundraising. To be fair, however, it’s less appropriate to have to rely on crowdfunding sites for life-saving care. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

Micro-plastics threatening
To the editor: When we moved to Leelanau County, we knew the area was blessed with pure, abundant natural resources. After joining the League of Women Voters Energy and Natural Resources Committee, I learned how fragile these resources are and what’s required to protect our water, air, and soil. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

Election important
Election important
A writer recently applauded the president for his “many accomplishments” but didn’t mention any of them. Here are some: open borders; influx of criminals and drugs; outrageous fuel and food prices; rising interest rates; attacks on 1st and 2nd amendment rights; forced compliance with green energy; woke ideology; surging crime rates; Two-tiered justice system highlighted by a coordinated legal bombardment against a former president; biological men ruining women’s sports; loss of parental rights; Student loan forgiveness; ignoring Supreme Court decisions. Need I say more? We voters have power to reclaim American values in November, the most important election in history! 03/27/2024 04:47 PM

Disappointing decision
Disappointing decision
To the editor: It was disappointing to say the least of the decision by the Empire Village Board to acquire a $480,000 building for a new Village Office. A new office is indeed needed, but this type of expenditure for what the Village will receive in return is a signifi cant disservice to the taxpayers of Empire. 03/27/2024 04:47 PM
