Grants OK’d for pre-schools
The start of a new school year is often an exciting time for families as kids look forward to connecting with classmates and parents seek relief with school day routines. This year, the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential (MiLEAP) has worked to expand preschool opportunities by lifting income factors and expanded preschool eligibility for 4-year-olds, helping many more families access free early education programming. 08/28/2024 10:35 PM

Old faces and new at Leland

While Shelagh Fehrenbach may be the new K-12 principal at Leland Public School this year, it’s hardly her first time on campus. The 2005 alumnus is back at her alma mater almost 20 years later after graduating, ready to serve in a district that she says feels a lot like “coming home.” “I keep saying it feels like I’m working in a magical time machine; the new building is bright and beautiful and I love being in it, even though I still need a tour guide for some of the entrances and exits,” Fehrenbach said. 08/28/2024 10:35 PM

Heading into the 2024-25 school year, new Leland varsity volleyball Coach Travis Baker said he and the team are ready to give it their best embarking on another busy season.
