LEELANAU HISTORY
The Leelanau County Road Commission this week heeded the call of constituents who urged them to “litigate, don’t mediate” a dispute over Lake Michigan shoreline access at the end of Reynolds Street in Leland. The Road Commission voted 3-0 Monday evening “to continue with a litigation strategy as recommended by our attorney and discussed during our closed session regarding the Reynolds Street legal proceedings.”

Downtown Northport bathroom project approved
Residents and visitors in the village of Northport will soon have a new portable public restroom option to utilize in the downtown area starting as soon as this month. Northport Village Council trustees voted unanimously at its regular meeting last Thursday to authorize up to $7,500 to have rental portable bathrooms installed downtown.

Npt. Village Council approves bid for 4th St. drain modifications
The Village of Northport approved a bid contract of $14,800 to Kal Excavating to address 4th Street drain modifications permitted by EGLE (the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy). Dyer noted in his manager’s report that the village received three responses to their Request for Proposal (RFP) from Kal Excavating, Popp Excavating, and Team Elmers.
