‘Can’t go back’
‘Can’t go back’
To the editor: District 3! We cannot forget the reason we recalled Will Bunek in 2021! Remember his appalling (9/14/21) public statement while attempting to overturn a voter approved millage? Here it is: “So, we’re here when things are wrong, when the people make a wrong decision, we’re here to make sure that does not go on” Commissioner Allgaier questioned. “So you just said that if a vote, a public vote is taken, and we think it is wrong, it’s our job as a constitutional republic to nullify it?” Commissioner Bunek replied, “Yes, that is exactly right.” We cannot go back! To the editor: Thank you for prominently reporting on the Cleveland Township Board’s discussion of SBHT Segment 9 at its August meeting. Their discussion was in preparation for voting on an action item at September’s meeting on whether the Township should re-enter active conversations with the NPS about the trail. 08/28/2024 10:35 PM

Candidates share ‘mom’ messages
Candidates for office are always scratching around for some way to connect with voters who may or may not have anything in common with the candidate per se. Politicans want to avoid at all cost the impression that he or she is “out of touch” with the citizens they need to get into office. 08/28/2024 10:35 PM

Manitou dock woes continue
North Manitou Island is home to a million-dollar, unappreciated dock. That’s because ferry service to the island, which is owned by the National Park Service, has been suspended even after an expensive dock extension was constructed earlier this summer to accommodate the ferry boat Mishe-Mokwa. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
