3 Memorial Day ceremonies set

‘Rolling Taps’ start Memorial observance
Leelanau Township will again hold its Rolling Taps in Northport at 10 a.m. Memorial Day. The Taps stations start just south of town and continue all the way to the Leelanau Township Cemetery, where the Memorial Day Service will start at 10:30 a.m. The Northport Community Band will play at the service, and the featured speaker is Jim White. The Memorial Day Rolling Taps started in Northport in response to COVID. The annual service was not held that year, since people couldn’t gather. It’s been awhile, but the Leelanau Christian Neighbor food truck was back one the road. Over 300 people attended the Leelanau Community Read event with New York Times best selling author William Kent Krueger Saturday at the Northport Performing Arts Center.
