Don’t be spooked
Don’t be spooked
To the editor: Do you find yourself restless, fed-up, COVID tired, politically exhausted? Then I encourage you to take a break. At midnight, go outside, place your bare feet on Earth — be grounded. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

To the editor: I have known Ty Wessell for over a decade. He is civil, bipartisan, thoughtful and compassionate. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

Exploring, appreciating our national parks
While I try to walk a trail every weekend, I recently made a point to get out to visit our local national park, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, last month on National Public Lands Day. Usually held annually on the fourth Saturday of September, people are invited to participate in a day of service for public lands, which helps to promote stewardship of the parks and the resources it provides us. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

To the editor: I encourage you to vote for Kama Ross for Leelanau County Commissioner. A thing to know about Kama is she is 100% legit. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

To the editor: Wesleyan University lists over 33,000 denominations of the Christian faith, each with its own interpretation of the Bible and how to use it as a guide to Christian living. Yet a recent letter-writer is so sure that his is the only correct interpretation that he cries crocodile tears for us Christians who believe women should have bodily autonomy, and hopes we enjoy “hot places.” I have but one question: Who died and made HIM God? Matt Roush Dearborn. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

To the editor: Leelanau County government has lost its priorities. It paid a downstate consultant to conduct a survey of the entire county workforce when the only employee controlled by the board is the administrator. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

To the editor: I would like to give a big shout-out to Leland Township Trustee Clint Mitchell, who was instrumental in getting a trespassing snow fence moved off of the public beach at Reynolds Street. On September 23, the obstruction, which violates the settlement agreement signed by parties to the Janko lawsuit, was moved to the proper side of the public access pole. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM
Reelect Wessell
Reelect Wessell
To the editor: I am writing in support of Ty Wessell for District 4 Commissioner. As a resident of Leelanau Township for nine years, I have seen a number of changes in our county government meetings, including more citizen participation, rancor and disagreement than sometimes seems productive. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

To the editor: While political polarization seems to be at an all time high, there are mutually shared concerns and common ground issues that seem to bridge the partisan divide. The vast majority of us support our farmers and local agriculture. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

To the editor: At the Cherry Pie debate, Jim White raised an important point about rising county spending. I didn’t realize our spending has increased by nearly 30% over the past 2-1/2 years, while taxes are up almost 20%. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM

To the editor: I recently read articles on the National Park Service and the dock disputes on N. Manitou Island. 10/09/2024 05:51 PM
