Candidates share ‘mom’ messages
Candidates for office are always scratching around for some way to connect with voters who may or may not have anything in common with the candidate per se. Politicans want to avoid at all cost the impression that he or she is “out of touch” with the citizens they need to get into office. 08/28/2024 10:35 PM
Yes to Segment 9
Yes to Segment 9
To the editor: The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail provides a wonderful way to exercise, get from one place to another without using any carbon fuel, and slow down to see all that is available. Segment 9 will provide the best way to appreciate the biodiversity, cultural practices, and past agricultural practices within the park. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Thank you
Thank you
To the editor: Thank you, voters, for renewing the Suttons Bay Bingham District Library’s operating millage! The library millage passed with 74% approval from the library’s service areas of Suttons Bay Village and Township and Bingham Township. We’ve received your support; now we’d like your opinion. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
NPS doesn’t care
NPS doesn’t care
To the editor: It seems near that most of the residents of Leelanau County opposed the extension of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The 4.2-mil extension will costs $15.5 million — that is $700 per foot! Remember the 1970s? The NPS has a history of pressing on with initiatives regardless of what people thing, Chuck Bond Maple City. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Passing notes
Passing notes
To the editor: Passing notes about the date of a follow up interview and when an ongoing presentation started? Congratulations Enterprise on your big scoop right before the election. After all, It would be dangerous to reelect a commissioner so misguided as to ask the clerk for the date of a future meeting. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM

Step up to help veterans with hall
She’s a tired, old building. She needs help. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Watching for impact of minimum wage law
Watching for impact of minimum wage law
A new state law which will go in effect in February sounds good at first glance. However, it will be interesting to see it how everything shakes out on the Leelanau Peninsula. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Salute!
Salute!
To the editor: A Message to My Fellow Veterans: A man has referred to row after row of white granite crosses as a place for ”losers and “suckers”! That man also attacked a gold star family for political reasons. He then referred to a veteran as a coward because he was a prisoner of war. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Ugliness forever
Ugliness forever
To the editor: Dear friends and neighbors: Good news! We may never have to endure another presidential campaign. The bad news is, that would be because Trump made himself president for life! Do we want to listen to Trump and Vance’s anger and ugliness forever? Do we want a president who is woefully misinformed? (You don’t think he’s lying, do you?!) Do we want the free press abolished? Do we want a president who, when he’s dealing with foreign leaders, is so weak and ineffectual that, according to him, he is picked on and bullied? Doesn’t sound very pleasant. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Price gouging?
Price gouging?
To the editor: Kamala Harris states that food providers are “price gouging” and she will punish them with some new (bad) laws to control pricing. In fact, grocers earn an after-tax profit of less than 2 cents on every dollar earned, a pretty thin profit margin. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Sanctimonious sign
Sanctimonious sign
To the editor: The mound of signs entering Lake Leelanau is unsightly and unwelcoming. This must be private property and doubt half the people nor businesses appreciate the view. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Strong feelings
Strong feelings
To the editor: I would like to voice my feelings about Segment 9 of the Sleeping Bear Dunes Heritage Trail. I have had the privilege of living in Leelanau County for over 20 years and my husband and I have enjoyed the trails and initially we were looking forward to the expansion but this particular segment at this particular time in environmental history is wrong. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
