People care about Leelanau
To the editor: I’m like other weary residents of Leelanau County. That is, ecstatic that the election is over.

‘Things’ … effect humanity
To th editor: In conversations I had with my dad about religion and politics, he told me that the two most detrimental “things” negatively effecting humanity are and will continue to be the misguided evolution of party politics and organized religion. Not politics, but party politics, not religion, but organized religion.

Death is a process
To the editor: When is the “life of a mother” in danger? How close to death does she have to be to qualify for emergency care? Whether it’s a miscarriage with complications or an ectopic pregnancy, in a restrictive state that puts fearful healthcare professionals in jeopardy the ultimate price will be paid by the woman. She is not safe.

Normal or crazy
To the editor: County voters had that choice and chose “crazy” 9,400 to 8,050. But take heart knowing that 74 of 83 Michigan counties opted for “normal”.

Thank you
To the editor: The League of Women Voters of Leelanau County affirms that our electoral process performed as it was designed in this election. The system has built-in redundancy so that any errors can be identified and corrected.

Gardening scholarships
To the editor: The Little Garden Club (LGC) was founded in 1975 and aims to stimulate, foster and promote the knowledge of conservation and horticulture. We are proud to offer 2025 grant funding, fueled by the organization’s biannual Garden Tour ticket sales and sponsorships.

Preserve wilderness
To the editor: Sleeping Bear Naturally sincerely thanks the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians (GTB) for their essential role in Superintendent Scott Tucker’s decision to pause all work on Segment 9 of the Heritage Trail indefinitely. Because of GTB’s strong commitment to the natural world, these rare wetlands, mature forests and steep dunes will remain intact.

Defenders of Freedom
To the editor: Thank you to all involved in putting together the 11/11 @11 Veterans Day Ceremony at the Little Finger VFW Post #7731, and especially Gene Kelly for his inspiring keynote and Pastor Nieheiser for his invocation. The reporting in the 11/14 Leelanau Enterprise is also greatly appreciated.

Thank you
To the editor: Can you imagine what would have happened with folks around here still denying the results of the 2020 election if this vote-flip had gone the other way? Thank you to the candidates who took this gut-wrenching news like grownups. And thank you to Michelle Crocker, who has lived through her worst nightmare this past week.

Congratulations
To the editor: The voters of Leelanau Township have spoken and elected Silvia Gans and Elizabeth Schwind as Township Trustees. Congratulations to both on their clear victory and I wish them success in keeping Leelanau Township a beautiful place in which to live and work.

Make America healthy
To the editor: I just read an article from the Wall Street Journal authored by RFKJr., 9/5/24. Headlined “Make America Healthy Again.” He illuminates the chronic disease crisis (CDC), gripping the USA.

Kudos to election workers
To the editor: After working in Centerville Township precinct during both our primary and general elections this year, I wanted to commend our County and Township officials during a challenging year. No voting system is perfect, no technology is perfect, and thankfully there are several layers of checks and balances.
