Kudos to Mawby
To the editor: I read with great interest Larry Mawby’s efforts to establish affordable housing in Suttons Bay. Housing young people can afford is one of the greatest priorities I can name regarding the future of our community.

Giver… not a taker
To the editor: I’d like to comment on last week’s letter to the editor titled “Walks the Walk” written by Steve Gilbreath about the community involvement activities of Kama Ross. Not only is Kama currently involved in the Northport music scene and on the county commissioners board, she also has served in the Peace Corps and a host of other activities too long to mention in her earlier years.

Support Grant
To the editor: Jennifer Grant has my support for Leelanau County Register of Deeds in the August Primary Election. Experience counts! Integrity and accuracy are valuable traits she continually demonstrates, which are so necessary in land records management.

Reelect Jennifer Grant
To the editor: As a Realtor with over 20 years of experience in Leelanau County, I have worked closely with the Register of Deeds. Jennifer’s committed to ensuring accuracy in property transactions, she contributes to the overall integrity of the county’s real estate market.

Support for young/seniors
To the editor: Caring for an aging spouse or parent or a young child is challenging. Sometimes family or friends do not have answers to the tricky questions of dementia/ Alzheimer’s or cannot fully assess a toddler’s development.

No lethal force
To the editor: A letter in the June 19 Enterprise erroneously claims that the DOJ authorized the use of lethal force against Trump. Here’s what actually happened: the search warrant for Mar-a-Lago contained boilerplate language that’s put in every warrant to remind agents of the FBI’s policy regarding limitations on the use of lethal force.

‘Defund’ higher education
To the editor: It was reported last week that North Korean defector— Yeonmi Park—is astonished at the anti-Western forced thinking, trigger warnings, safe spaces, preferred pronouns, and political correctness she encountered as a student at Columbia University, saying “even North Korea isn’t this nuts.” Park cannot believe she was asked to do “this much censoring of myself” at a U.S. university and observes that Americans seem willing to give their rights away, not realizing they may never come back.

Grateful for support
To the editor: On behalf of the Leland Chamber of Commerce I’d like to express our gratitude for the unwavering support and generosity from our community. When we shared the cancellation of our beloved Leland Wine Festival this year, our main fundraiser, the response was heartwarming.

Visual pollution
To the editor: Please. Could we refrain from putting up political signs until just a few weeks before any election? Otherwise, we have months of visual pollution.

More on Section 9
To the editor: Scott Tucker, Superintendent of the National Lakeshore, stated 5/7/24, “We have put design requirements forth for our design team to meander through that corridor. So that’s the design that I’m expecting to see this summer,” said Supt.

Thank you
To the editor: Thanks to family, friends, and community members for the celebration of my book, “Faith, Family & Music,” at the book signing event that took place on May 26, at the Solon Township Hall. What a party it was! Music was provided by band members of Larry & His Larks, Ray Watkoski, and Bobby Atkinson.

Censorship has arrived
To the editor: Unbelievably, and in a break from past practices, local senior citizens were denied their right to obtain political and volunteer information from both Republicans and Democrats at last Tuesday’s Senior Expo held at Suttons Bay High School. The Expo promised to “bring in over 100 vendors showcasing the latest in information, resources, products, and services; giving you the tools to live a full life as you age.” The Republicans and Democrats were kicked out of the Expo, and school policy was given as the reason, even though it is nearly impossible to imagine that a school in Leelanau County has an anti-free speech policy.
